Ceremony to award $200,000 USEPA Grant for brownfields revitalization to be held August 28

The USEPA has confirmed an event  on Friday Aug 28, 2015 @10AM to formally award the City of Meriden a $200,000 USEPA Brownfields Assessment Grant  The event will be held at the Midstate Chamber located at 3 Colony Street.   A "Big Check" will be presented to the City by USEPA Regional Administrator, Curt Spalding. Senator Richard Blumenthal, Senator Chris Murphy and Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty are confirmed to attend.  
 
The City of Meriden will use $200,000 in USEPA grant funds to complete key tasks aimed at advancing the community revitalization plans.  Tasks to be completed include Community Engagement, Phase I/II/III Environmental Site Assessments, Site Reuse Planning and Project Management.  Key areas of focus includes the investigation of brownfield sites located in the Transit Oriented Development District and Choice Neighborhoods area, however citywide sites can also be assessed as needs arise.
