City of Meriden welcomes JD Byrider and Logan Steel to their new locations in Meriden, CT!

JD Byrider, located at 1187 East Main Street, opened on May 11, 2015.  JD Byrider is a national used car dealership that provides in house financing options for its customers.   The company currently has 15 employees and plans to add up to 50 employees within five years at the Meriden location.  We welcome owners Jeff and Jill Merriam, General Manager Mark A. Reidy and the entire JD Byrider team to Meriden’s east side and look forward to a ribbon cutting with the Midstate Chamber of Commerce in the coming weeks!

Logan Steel recently acquired  119 Empire Avenue in Meriden, CT as part of a long term plan to consolidate its Meriden and Wallingford operations to a single site with retail, manufacturing and warehousing all under one roof.  Logan Steel specializes in metals manufacturing, sandblasting, and retailing of metal products of all shapes and sizes.  The company currently has 30 employees and plans to add 11 to 15 new positions within six to 12 months at the Empire Avenue location.  Owners Howard, Howard Jr., and Eric Lohmann will be working diligently over the coming weeks to prepare for a grand opening later this summer.  Congratulations to the hard working employees of Logan Steel on your continued success!

Both firms took advantage of the City of Meriden Manufacturing Assistance Program, which provided  $15,000 to each firm to offset their relocation costs.  Since 2002, the City of Meriden has been providing manufacturers and other specialized businesses assistance related to relocation and start up.
