Meriden 2020, Bringing It Together Open House Day Saturday, June 10, 2017

The CT Office of Tourism and towns across the state are hosting free events on Saturday, June 10, 2017.   Participating organizations in Meriden include the YMCA, the 1711 Solomon Goffe House, the Andrews Homestead, and Gallery 53.

A highlight of the Open House Day in Meriden is a special exhibit at the Andrews Homestead, 424 W. Main St., from 11 AM to 3 PM.  Admission is free.  On display will be an exhibit depicting Meriden’s participation in the Nation’s wars: The Civil War, the Spanish American War, WWI, WWII, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.  A special section of the exhibit commemorates the 100th Anniversary of WWI.  Also featured are the women of Meriden and their contribution to the war effort both at home and overseas. Through, one of our volunteers compiled information on the 144 men whose names are listed on the WWII memorial monument. This information will be available during visiting hours. The permanent exhibits at the Andrews Homestead will also be available for viewing.
