Meriden 2020, Bringing It Together

Meriden Submits BAR planning grant application for downtown

The City of Meriden has applied for a $100,000 grant under the State of Connecticut “Brownfields Areawide Revitalization” program for the purpose of completing site reuse plans and/or architectural specifications for possible redevelopment sites in the BAR Project Area.  Sites of interest include 9-11-13-15 Colony Street, 55 West Main Street, and 116 Cook Ave.

If awarded, the grant would provide resources to advance site reuse planning for several underutilized properties in downtown.  With the proximity to the new rail service beginning in May 2018, Meriden is well-positioned for new transit oriented development.  The grant, if awarded, will help local property advance their development plans.  Funding award announcements are expected in June 2018.
