Meriden 2020, Bringing It Together

Meriden's Midstate Chamber seeks public input on "Innovation Places" competition

Meriden residents, students, business owners and entrepreneurs are invited to participate one of three public workshops designed to gather input on what it will take to make downtown Meriden an "Innovation Place".   Save the Date!

  • Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 10AM-2 PM at the Meriden YMCA, 110 West Main Street
  • Monday, January 9, 2017 from 5:30 PM-7:30 PM at Gallery 53, 53 Colony Street
  • Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 9:30 AM-11:00 AM at the Midstate Chamber, 3 Colony Street

In 2016, Meriden was selected as one of 12 communities to participate in the "Innovation Places" planning grant, a program sponsored by CT Next and Connecticut Innovations, Inc., a quasi-public state agency that assists entrepreneurs and growing companies.   Grant funds will be used to complete a strategic plan identifying "catalytic" projects and partners that will spur investment and business growth in Meriden, CT.    These catalytic projects may be eligible for future implementation funds provided through the CT Next program.

The meetings will be hosed by the Midstate Chamber of Commerce.   Facilitating the three public sessions will be educator and entrepreneur Dr. Drew Harris, Ph.D., a Professor of Management & Organization at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) in New Britain.  Dr. Harris teaches entrepreneurship, business strategy, and leadership and leads the CCSU entrepreneurship program. Dr. Harris is working as a consultant to the Midstate Chamber for this project.
