Meriden 2020, Bringing It Together

Facade Improvement loans for downtown businesses

The City of Meriden is pleased to announce the start of the Meriden Match Program!  This program is designed to provide forgivable loans up to $10,000 to commercial property owners and business owners located in Meriden’s Transit Oriented Development (TOD) District and other eligible areas.

These loans, which are funded through the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, can be used to improve exterior façades of downtown properties.  Start up costs for small businesses and interior fit out costs will be evaluated on a case by case basis.  Property owners and business owners applying for the program together can receive up to $20,000.  Applicants will be required to provide matching funds in order to qualify.

A full description of the program’s eligibility requirements, timeline, as well as the pre-application and the Policies & Procedures can be found at the links below.  Interested applicants are invited to download Pre-application and return to the City of Meriden.  Project award announcements are subject to funding availability.

Any remaining questions can be directed to the Meriden Department of Economic Development by phone at 203 630 4105 or via email at
